Help With Browsing

Browse by Subject

Browse Subjects on the homepage is the most comprehensive information option, allowing you to browse over 2000 Australian, state and territory government links divided into some 350 categories and sub-categories. This index is also available from the 'Subjects' tab on the navigation bar.

Information For

If you'd prefer to browse by one of a number of common audience groups within society, our 'Info For' tab will take you to 'Information For' fifteen different groups of people, each of which has its own specific needs from government. Clicking on a group name will take you to a page of key links specifically chosen to meet the needs of that group. Every link in this index is also available under 'Subjects', however many people will find these categories easier to explore.

Services

From the 'Services' tab you can find a number of Australian Government services available over the internet. Dedicated categories for individuals, businesses, and non-residents will help guide you to the service you're after.

Looking at the Browse Page

When you select the index you're interested in, you will be provided with a list of subjects or categories. Clicking on a subject or category will open a list of government links relative to that subject.

On the right-hand side of each list, you may also find some 'Related Links'. Subjects or categories under 'Related Links' are relative to your current topic, but occur in a different section of the browsing structure rather than as a sub-topic.

Searching the australia.gov.au Indexes

You can also search the australia.gov.au indexes using the search on the 'Subjects' page or the 'This Site' tab on the australia.gov.au search.
