This Department of Veterans' Affairs website provides teachers and students with access to imaginative and relevant information about significant World War II events, including the defence of Australia, Australia's war in the Pacific and Australian armed forces in other theatres. The National Archives' holdings on defence date largely from 1901 but include some colonial records, such as those on the Boer War. Though their collection of defence-related records is vast, it does not include all defence records created by the Australian Government - the Australian War Memorial holds most of the operational records of war.

Nominal Roll of Australian Veterans of the Korean War

The Nominal Roll contains the service details of some 17000 individuals who served with Australia's defence forces in Korea, or in the waters adjacent to Korea, during the conflict and after the ceasefire, between 27 June 1950 to 19 April 1956. A certificate of service is available for every service record.

The Visit Gallipoli website gives visitors to the peninsula and those surfing the internet at home an opportunity to learn more about the Gallipoli campaign, visiting Gallipoli today, and the Anzac Commemorative Site, as well as research and educational resources for individuals, teachers and students. In particular, the website now contains three tours, the Anzac Walk, Turkish Monuments and Memorials and a new Gallipoli Tour. Each tour offers a printed guide, historical and contemporary images, and an audio commentary available in both English and Turkish, able to be downloaded as an MP3 file.

Records of men and women who served with the Australian army in World War I are preserved in the National Archives. As a gift to the nation, these records are all available online.

World War 2 Nominal Roll

Contains information from the service records of some one million individuals who served during World War Two. Search for service record details by specifying name, service number, honours, place (of birth, of enlistment, or residential locality at enlistment). A certificate of service can be printed for every service record.
