Australasian Centre for Policing Research (ACPR)
The Australasian Centre for Policing Research contributes to the professionalisation of Australian policing through the sponsorship, coordination, stimulation and undertaking of research projects and programs associated with the delivery of police services in Australia.
Australasian Police Multicultural Advisory Bureau (APMAB)
The Australasian Police Multicultural Advisory Bureau will cease operation as at close of business March 30, 2007. APMAB is currently in a transformation phase; its role of function will be continued by the newly established Australia and New Zealand Police Support Agency (ANZPSA).
Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity (ACLEI)
The Integrity Commissioner, supported by the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity (ACLEI), is responsible for preventing, detecting and investigating serious and systemic corruption issues in the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Crime Commission.
Australian Federal Police (AFP)
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is the principal law enforcement agency through which the Australian Government pursues its law enforcement interests. The AFP is unique in Australian law enforcement in that its functions relate both to community policing and to investigations of offences against Commonwealth law enforcement in Australia and overseas.
Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM)
The Australian Institute of Police Management is part of the Australasian Common Police Services. The Institute provides executive leadership and management development opportunities to improve the corporate performance and productivity of Australasian law enforcement and allied agencies.
CrimTrac
The CrimTrac Agency was established as a major national policing initiative for the 21st century and will allow Australian police services to take advantage of the dramatic opportunities opened up by recent advances in forensic science, information technology and communications.
National Institute of Forensic Science (NIFS)
The National Institute of Forensic Science ( NIFS ) is an integral part of and support base for the forensic science community by working in partnership with all elements of that community, (police, scientists, medical, lawyers, courts and coroners) for the advancement of forensic science.
National Missing Persons Coordination Centre
The National Missing Persons Coordination Centre is located with the Australian Federal Police in Canberra. The centre works with state and territory Police Services and community based organisations to ensure there is a national, coordinated approach to the location of missing persons, reducing the incidence and impact of missing persons and educating the broader community to the significance of the missing persons phenomena.
National Police Checks
The Australian Federal Police provides National Police Checks (criminal history checks) for residents of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), Jervis Bay Territory and other external Commonwealth territories, people seeking employment with the Commonwealth Government, people requiring a check under Commonwealth legislation, e.g. Aviation Security, Immigration purposes, volunteers and charities (ACT only), overseas employment, adoption, including overseas adoption, and visa applications. All other applicants should contact the Criminal Records section of their relevant state or territory police department.
