Climate Change
Department of Climate Change
The Department of Climate Change delivers programmes under the Australian Government's climate change strategy. These programmes were formerly administered by the Australian Greenhouse Office.
Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate
The Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate (AP6) brings together Australia, China, India, Japan, Republic of Korea and the United States of America to address the challenges of climate change, energy security and air pollution in a way that encourages economic development and reduces poverty.
Australia's National Greenhouse Accounts
Australia's National Greenhouse Accounts provide greenhouse gas emission estimates for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and for tracking Australia's progress towards its internationally agreed target of limiting emissions to 108% of 1990 levels over the period 2008-2012.
Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research
The Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research will provide a coordinated approach to the areas of weather and climate research in Australia. The Centre is an equal partnership between the Bureau of Meteorology and CSIRO. Weather and climate researchers from both organisations will work to unlock the mysteries of climate change and to investigate the resulting challenges and opportunities.
Cities for Climate Protection (CCP)
The Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) Australia programme assists local governments and their communities reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Climate Change Education
Find out what you can do to reduce energy costs and cut greenhouse gas emissions. This page links to education resources on climate change and the greenhouse effect. Includes tips for reducing greenhouse gas emissions at home, at school and at work, for transport and for consumers.
Climate Change in Australia
Climate change in Australia is based upon international climate change research including conclusions from the IPCC's fourth assessment report. CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology have developed climate change projections for Australia in order to understand the likely magnitude of climate change and the possible impacts.

Energy White Paper
The Australian Government released its comprehensive energy policy, Securing Australia's Energy Future, on 15 June 2004. The energy white paper establishes the policy framework for the development of the energy sector in Australia. This website provides a gateway to information on the implementation of energy white paper measures.
Garnaut Climate Change Review
The Garnaut Climate Change Review is an independent study by Professor Ross Garnaut, which was commissioned by Australia's Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments. The Review will examine the impacts of climate change on the Australian economy, and recommend medium to long-term policies and policy frameworks to improve the prospects for sustainable prosperity.
Global Warming: Cool It - A Home Guide to Reducing Energy Costs and Greenhouse Gases
This booklet provides information to help every Australian understand how they contribute to climate change, and how they can play an important part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. You can read it online, download a PDF or order a free copy online.
Greenhousegases.gov.au
It's surprisingly simple to use less energy at home or work. This site is designed to provide free tips, tools and resources to help you use less energy, save money and reduce greenhouse gases in our environment.
National Carbon Accounting System (NCAS)
The National Carbon Accounting System tracks emissions (sources) and removals (sinks) of greenhouse gases from Australian land based systems. The system underpins National Greenhouse Gas Inventory reporting, and provides a basis for emissions projections to assess progress towards meeting Australia's emissions target.
